Learning in healthcare goes beyond textbooks. Students need opportunities to interact with experts and understand how scientific knowledge is applied in clinical settings.
The Institute of Translational Health Science (ITHS), Rayat Bahra University, Mohali, participated in a one-day master class at Aashakiran Fertility Academy, Kharar, on 5 October 2026. The programme offered students valuable insights into Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), reproductive medicine and clinical embryology.
Expert Guidance in Reproductive Medicine
The master class was conducted by Dr. Asmita Mahla, Medical Director and In-charge of Aashakiran IVF Centre. With over 20 years of experience in reproductive medicine and fertility care, she shared insights that helped students connect their academic learning with professional practice.
The session provided an opportunity to learn from an experienced fertility specialist and develop a better understanding of the clinical aspects of reproductive sciences.
Practical Exposure Through a Fertility Centre Visit
An important part of the programme was the hospital visit, which introduced students to the clinical environment and the functioning of a fertility centre.
Such educational experiences complement classroom learning by helping students understand professional healthcare settings, clinical workflows and the practical context of Assisted Reproductive Technology.
Strengthening Industry–Academia Collaboration
The programme also recognised the participation of ITHS faculty members. Ms. Paramjot and Mr. Gaurav Thakur were felicitated with green plants and gift hampers as a gesture of appreciation.
Students received certificates of participation and gift hampers at the conclusion of the event.
ITHS extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Asmita Mahla and the team at Aashakiran IVF Centre for providing this valuable learning opportunity.
Preparing Students for the Future of Clinical Embryology
Clinical embryology and reproductive sciences require a strong foundation in scientific concepts, an understanding of clinical environments and continuous professional learning.
At ITHS, initiatives such as expert interactions, educational visits and industry engagement help connect academic learning with real-world healthcare practices.
For students exploring careers in clinical embryology and reproductive sciences, exposure to experienced professionals and specialised clinical environments can be an important part of their educational journey.
