The Specialisation
About M.Sc Molecular Medicine
Molecular medicine studies disease at the level of genes, proteins and cells, and uses that understanding to diagnose earlier and treat more precisely. The postgraduate degree takes that foundation further — into genomics, drug design, gene editing, disease modelling and personalised medicine.
Across two years, an M.Sc Molecular Medicine student moves from coursework to real laboratory research, ending in a project that studies how a disease begins at the genetic level. This is the training that sits behind clinical trials, new diagnostics and the development of targeted drugs.
It reflects where medicine is heading: the convergence of cancer biology, genomics and translational research into one future-oriented field — and a direct path into research careers and a PhD.
Curriculum
What you study
Four semesters of advanced coursework and laboratory work, closing with a supervised research project that connects molecular science to patient outcomes.
Advanced Genomics
Genome analysis, gene expression and the genetic basis of complex disease.
Drug Discovery & Design
How targeted and personalised drugs are designed against a molecular cause.
Disease Modelling
Cell and molecular models used to study how disease develops and responds.
